HOSPITAL FATIMAH SCHOOL OF NURSING
History and Milestone
Hospital Fatimah School of Nursing (HFSON), formerly known as
City Nursing School, was established by the late Dr. Ng Peng Khim
in 1994 as the first private nursing school in Perak.
The school was founded through a joint effort between Hospital
Fatimah, Perak Chinese Maternity Hospital, and Kinta Medical Centre
to provide quality nursing education and training.
In 1998, HFSON commenced nursing training programmes approved
by the Malaysian Nursing Board. At the time, the school was located
in the basement of Hospital Fatimah Ipoh, at No. 1, Leboh Chew Peng
Loon, off Jalan Dato' Lau Pak Khuan, Ipoh Garden, 31400 Ipoh,
Perak Darul Ridzuan.
The school relocated to its current campus at No. 12, Jalan Sultan
Azlan Shah, 31400 Ipoh, Perak, in 2003. Since then, it has
expanded its facilities to enhance student learning. The property is
owned by the Congregation of the Brothers of Mercy.
Over the years, HFSON expanded its academic portfolio by
introducing new nursing programmes. The institution officially
registered with the Malaysian Department of Higher Education
(JPT) in 2005 and attained Private Higher Education Institution
(IPTS) status in 2007.
Today, HFSON continues its mission to train competent,
compassionate, and professional nursing personnel through curricula
recognized by national regulatory bodies and fully accredited by
MQA.
The school operates under the governance of a Board of Directors,
constituted in compliance with national higher education legislation.
The Board is responsible for oversight, policy direction, and executive
accountability. Under the leadership of its Chairman, Dato' Chan
Yew Mun DPMP, PMP, the Board remains dedicated to navigating
challenges and advancing the institution's growth
